A. Günkut BARKA

Günkut BARKA was born with his twin brother Aykut in 1951 in Istanbul, Turkey. He studied his major “Civil Engineering” in Istanbul Technical University and was graduated in 1974. He spent his career mostly in Gök Insaat ve Tic A.S., a company that had constructed many major projects with prefabricated solutions. Gunkut Barka had carried out variety of positions in this company, ranging from project manager to general manager, from 1978 till 2004. After leaving Gök Insaat ve Tic A.S., he decided to start up his own business and established “Barka Muhendislik” as an engineering company in 2004. Since then, the company has been involved in various projects with a wide range of categories and still continues to be so. Gunkut Barka has also been the chairman of the Precast Concrete Association of Turkey since 2015.

He has spent most of his career on Precast Concrete Constructions and because of his deep knowledge and experience about the Precast Concrete subject, he has been called up to many seminars and lectures on various topics related to the concrete prefabrication in major universities and conferences (going on process since 2005).

He has also won Precast Concrete Association Article Award in 1995 with one of his articles called "Multi Layered Sandwich Facade Panels”, which was prepared with Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Zorbozan.

He also has performed some analyses related to 1998 Adana Ceyhan Earthquake which was accompanied by Filiz Sarıfakıoğlu and 1999 Gölcük Earthquake accompanied by Hakan Ataköy.

He is married and has two sons and lives in Istanbul.
